…In the midst of such a monumental, merciless will Simona Šaturová’s unhappy and vulnerable-looking Lucia (di Lammermoor) had no chance of surviving. If the beginning, full of anticipation, remained muted, then the duet with Edgard made way for the finale, the effect of which, in a coloratura of seemingly effortless skill, was in no way exhausted. In what was never a dolorous rendition a poignant portrayal of a broken psyche was born; an excellent performance.
